Symptoms

• Incorrect air distribution (for example, air flows only to the feet or only to the windshield)
• Clicking or extraneous sounds from the center console area when changing modes
• Heater/air conditioner operating modes do not switch
• Error indication on the climate control display

Causes

• Damper mechanism jammed due to contamination or wear
• Malfunction of the damper servo drive (actuator)
• Open or short circuit in control circuit
• Problems with the wiring harness to the servo
• Malfunction of the climate control control unit

How to Fix

1. Carry out computer diagnostics to clarify the nature of the malfunction
2. Check the functionality of the servo drive and damper mechanism
3. Inspect the condition of the wiring harness and connectors
4. Clean or replace the damper mechanism if necessary
5. Replace faulty servo drive
6. Check and, if necessary, replace the climate control control unit
