Symptoms

  • The SRS light on the dashboard is on
  • Error message in diagnostic scanner
  • The front passenger airbag may not deploy in an accident.

Causes

  • Broken or damaged wiring harness
  • Corrosion or poor contact in connectors
  • Airbag squib malfunction
  • Airbag damage
  • SRS controller malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Diagnostics using an OBD-II scanner to confirm the code
  2. Visual inspection of the wiring harness and connectors in the side airbag area
