Symptoms

• The left mirror cannot be adjusted using the electric switch
• Cannot switch to left mirror adjustment
• Mirror selection switch gets stuck in one position
• Malfunction indicator (CHECK ENGINE or body symbol) illuminates on the instrument panel
• When you try to adjust the left mirror, you hear clicks or there is no response

Causes

• Mechanical jamming or wear of the mirror selection switch
• Oxidation or corrosion of electrical switch contacts
• Moisture or dirt gets inside the switch
• Broken spring or switch locking mechanism
• Damaged wiring harness or oxidized connectors in the control circuit
• Malfunction of the body control module (BCM) or intermediate relay
• Short circuit in switch power circuit

How to Fix

1. Connect an OBD-II diagnostic scanner and record the exact meaning of the B1E64 code, as well as any associated codes.
2. Visually check the mirror selection switch on the driver's door panel to make sure it is not dirty or deformed.
3. Remove the switch (usually requires removal of the inner door trim) and inspect the contacts for oxidation or corrosion
4. Clean the switch contacts with alcohol and a soft brush if oxidation is detected.
5. Check the wiring harness and switch connectors for damage, moisture, and oxidation.
6. Test the switch circuit with a multimeter in resistance mode, make sure the readings are correct when switching positions
7. If necessary, replace the mirror selection switch with a new one.
8. Check supply voltage at switch (usually 12V from BCM)
9. Clean the connectors and reinstall the wiring harness, ensuring good contact.
10. After the repair, erase the error codes with a scanner and carry out a test drive to confirm that the fault has been resolved.
