Symptoms

  • The central locking does not work or does not work correctly
  • It is impossible to unlock all doors with one command
  • The malfunction indicator on the dashboard is on
  • Doors do not lock automatically when driving
  • The remote control does not control the central locking

Causes

  • Short circuit in the central locking wiring harness
  • Malfunction of the electric drive of one of the doors
  • Oxidation of connectors in the central locking circuit
  • Door unlock button malfunction
  • BCM malfunction

How to Fix

  1. Read error codes and identify a specific circuit
  2. Check the operation of each lock actuator one by one
  3. Inspect the door wiring harnesses (especially those with corrugations)
  4. Measure the voltage and current in the unlock control circuit
  5. Replace a faulty lock actuator or repair the wiring
  6. Reset codes and check central locking operation
