Symptoms

• ABS/ESP indicator is on
• Disabling the ABS/ESP system
• Incorrect operation of cruise control
• Floating speedometer readings (on some models)

Causes

• Broken or damaged sensor wires
• Wheel speed sensor malfunction
• Sensor dirty or corroded
• Mechanical damage to the sensor
• ABS control unit malfunction

How to Fix

1. Visually check the integrity of the sensor wires and connectors
2. Check the sensor resistance (the nominal value depends on the model)
3. Clean the sensor from dirt
4. Check the gap between the sensor and the impulse ring
5. If necessary, replace the sensor or repair the wiring harness
