Symptoms

  • The traction control disable indicator is constantly on or flashing
  • Traction control system does not activate or does not work correctly
  • The ABS warning light on the dashboard is on
  • It is impossible to determine the actual state of the traction control system

Causes

  • Faulty indicator lamp on the dashboard
  • Damage to the wiring harness between the ABS/ESP unit and the dashboard
  • Malfunction of the ABS/ESP control unit
  • Poor contact in the indicator circuit connectors
  • Control unit software failure

How to Fix

  1. Read error codes with a scanner that supports ABS/ESP protocols
  2. Check the status of the traction control indicator lamp on the instrument panel
  3. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the ABS unit and the instrument cluster
  4. Check the voltage and continuity of the indicator circuit with a multimeter
  5. If necessary, update the firmware or replace the ABS/ESP control unit
