Symptoms

• Activating the 4WD/AWD warning light on the dashboard
• Incorrect operation of the all-wheel drive system
• Possible disabling of the all-wheel drive system
• Reduced power transfer efficiency

Causes

• Transfer case temperature sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in the sensor wiring harness
• Poor contact in sensor connectors
• 4WD/AWD control module malfunction
• Contamination or low oil level in the transfer case

How to Fix

1. Check the level and condition of the oil in the transfer case
2. Visually inspect the sensor wiring harness and connectors for damage.
3. Check the resistance and voltage of the temperature sensor
4. Replace temperature sensor if necessary
5. Clean or replace wiring harness if damaged
6. Reset the error and check the system for reappearance of the code
