Symptoms

• The all-wheel drive system malfunction indicator comes on
• Unstable operation of the all-wheel drive system
• The vehicle may go into emergency transmission mode

Causes

• Actuator position sensor A fault
• Damage to the wiring harness to the sensor
• Mechanical damage to the differential drive
• Low or dirty differential oil level
• Sensor contact corrosion

How to Fix

1. Check the oil level and condition in the rear differential
2. Visually inspect the position sensor and wiring harness for damage
3. Check resistance and position sensor signals
4. If necessary, replace the position sensor or actuator
5. Clear contacts and restore connections
6. Reset the error and check the system operation
