Symptoms

• The ABS indicator on the dashboard is on
• ABS system may not work
• Possible false alarms of ABS
• Loss of speed data on the speedometer (in some models)

Causes

• Wheel speed sensor malfunction
• Broken or damaged wiring harness
• Contamination or damage to the ring gear on the hub
• Poor contact in the sensor connector
• ABS control unit malfunction

How to Fix

1. Visually check the sensor and wiring for damage
2. Clean the sensor and ring gear from dirt
3. Check the sensor resistance (usually 800-2000 Ohm)
4. Check the integrity of wires and connectors
5. If necessary, replace the sensor or repair the wiring
6. Clear the error and check if it comes back
