Symptoms
- Stiff brake pedal, increased force required to brake
- The brake warning light on the dashboard is on
- Increased braking distance
- Extraneous sounds when the brake booster operates
- ABS or ESP light is on
Causes
- Brake booster solenoid valve malfunction
- Open or short circuit in valve wiring harness
- Oxidation or damage to the solenoid connector
- Malfunction of the brake system control unit
- Vacuum leak in the amplifier system
How to Fix
- Carry out diagnostics with a scanner that supports the brake system.
- Check the brake booster solenoid valve with a multimeter (winding resistance)
- Inspect the wiring and solenoid connector for damage and oxidation.
- Check for vacuum in the amplifier system
- Replace faulty solenoid or repair wiring
- After repair, reset the error and perform a test drive
