Symptoms

• The ABS/ESP lamp on the dashboard is on
• Disabling the ABS system
• Problems with the stability control system
• Incorrect speedometer readings (in some models)

Causes

• Broken sensor wires
• Short circuit in the circuit
• Wheel speed sensor malfunction
• Wiring harness damage
• Corrosion of contacts in the connector
• ABS module malfunction

How to Fix

1. Visual inspection of the sensor wires and connector
2. Checking the sensor resistance (should be between 800-2000 Ohms)
3. Checking the continuity of the circuit from the sensor to the ABS unit
4. Checking the sensor signal with an oscilloscope
5. Replace the sensor if necessary
6. Repair or replace the wiring harness if damage is found
