Symptoms

• The passive safety system fault indicator is on
• The passive safety system may not work in an accident.
• The error may be accompanied by other fault codes for the passive safety system.

Causes

• Lack of sensor calibration after replacement
• Multi-axis acceleration sensor B malfunction
• Open or short circuit in wiring harness
• Problems with the restraint system ECU
• Consequences of an accident (re-calibration required)

How to Fix

1. Check the wiring harness to the sensor for damage
2. Check the power supply and ground of the sensor
3. Replace the sensor if a fault is detected
4. Perform calibration procedure using diagnostic equipment
5. If necessary, replace the restraint system control unit.
