Symptoms

  • The TPMS indicator on the instrument panel is on
  • Visually noticeable decrease in pressure in the left rear tire
  • Deterioration in vehicle handling
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Vibration when driving at high speed

Causes

  • Puncture or damage to the left rear tire
  • Dead TPMS sensor battery
  • Damaged or faulty pressure sensor
  • Air leak through tire valve
  • Fault in the TPMS control unit

How to Fix

  1. Visually inspect the left rear tire for punctures and damage.
  2. Check the tire pressure with a tire pressure gauge and, if necessary, inflate to normal
  3. Check the condition of the wheel valve for leaks
  4. Using an OBD-II scanner, read the left rear wheel TPMS sensor data
  5. If necessary, replace the TPMS sensor or its battery
  6. Perform calibration (learning) of the TPMS system after replacing the sensor
