Symptoms

  • TPMS lamp is on
  • Bad sensor icon on the information display
  • Incorrect pressure readings for the left rear wheel
  • Continuous TPMS warning
  • Lack of response when tire pressure changes

Causes

  • Physical damage to the sensor during tire installation/removal
  • Low or faulty transmitter battery
  • Damage to the pressure sensor inside the transmitter
  • Corrosion of the sensor housing due to exposure to road reagents
  • Mechanical shock when hitting a hole or curb

How to Fix

  1. Check the pressure in the left rear wheel with a pressure gauge
  2. Read TPMS data with a scanner to clarify the nature of the malfunction
  3. Inspect the sensor with the wheel removed for visible damage.
  4. Try re-initializing (training) the sensor
  5. Replace the faulty sensor-transmitter
  6. Register a new sensor in the TPMS control unit
