Symptoms

Causes

• Bank 2 VVT solenoid malfunction
• Clogged oil channels of the VVT system

• Malfunction of the phase shifter (VVT actuator)
• Oil filter dirty
• Camshaft position sensor malfunction

How to Fix

1. Check the level and quality of the engine oil, replace if necessary
2. Diagnose the crankshaft and camshaft position sensors of bank 2
3. Check VVT solenoid operation using a multimeter
4. Clean the oil channels of the VVT system using special washes
5. Check the oil pressure in the system
6. Inspect the condition of the timing chain/belt and tensioners
7. If necessary, replace VVT solenoid bank 2
8. Replace the phase shifter if it is worn out
9. Clear error codes and test drive
