Symptoms

Causes

• Faulty VVT solenoid
• Contamination or wear of the phase shifter
• Low engine oil pressure
• Problem with wiring harness or connector
• Mechanical damage to the VVT system
• Contaminated or unsuitable engine oil

How to Fix

1. Check the level and condition of the engine oil
2. Diagnose oil pressure in the system
3. Check VVT solenoid resistance and power supply
4. Inspect the phase shifter mechanism for wear
5. Check the integrity of the wiring harness and contacts
6. Clean or replace VVT solenoid
7. If necessary, replace the phase shifter mechanism
8. Reset the error and take a test drive
