Causes

Malfunction of one of the coolant temperature sensors
Open or short circuit in the wiring to the sensors
Poor contact in sensor connectors
Problems with the engine control unit

How to Fix

Check the integrity of the wiring to both sensors
Check the resistance of the sensors at different temperatures
Clean sensor connector contacts
If necessary, replace the faulty sensor
