Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch B Circuit Range/Performance
Severity: MEDIUM
Symptoms
- Rough idle
- Dips when pressing the gas pedal
- Increased fuel consumption
- Check Engine Light Illuminates
- Limiting engine power (limp home mode)
Causes
- Throttle/pedal position sensor malfunction
- Open or short circuit in wiring harness
- Poor contact in the sensor connector
- Contamination or mechanical damage to the sensor
- ECU problems (rare)
How to Fix
- Visually check the wiring harness and connectors for damage.
- Clean the contacts of the sensor and connector
- Check sensor resistance (compare with technical specifications)
- Check the reference voltage and sensor signal using a multimeter
- If necessary, replace the throttle/pedal position sensor
- Clear the error and check if it comes back
