Symptoms

• Misfire in cylinder 9
• Engine vibration
• Power reduction
• Check Engine light comes on (possibly flashing)
• Smell of unburned fuel from the exhaust

Causes

• Injector wire short circuit to ground
• Broken injector power wire
• Internal short circuit of the injector winding
• Damage to the wiring harness near the exhaust manifold
• ECU transistor switch malfunction

How to Fix

1. Read codes and record misfire codes (P0309)
2. Measure the resistance of the injector of cylinder 9 (standard 12–16 Ohms)
3. Check the supply voltage at the injector connector
4. Inspect the injector wiring harness for thermal damage.
5. Check the harness for breaks and short to ground
6. If wiring and injectors are excluded - ECU diagnostics
