Symptoms

  • Misfire in group D cylinders
  • Vibration and unstable idle
  • Reduced engine power
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Check Engine Light Is On or Flashing

Causes

  • Short circuit of the control circuit of coil D to the +12V line
  • Group D ignition coil malfunction
  • Damage to the wiring or oxidation of the connector
  • Defective ignition module
  • ECU malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Read codes, identify group D cylinders according to the engine diagram
  2. Inspect the wiring and ignition coil connector D
  3. Measure the resistance of the primary winding of coil D
  4. Check the control voltage with an oscilloscope or multimeter
  5. Swap coil D with another group to confirm the fault
  6. Replace the faulty coil, if necessary, a piece of wiring
