P032A

Knock/Combustion Vibration Sensor C Circuit

Severity
⚠️ Medium
Can you drive?
Limited driving only, diagnose soon
Approx. repair cost
$17–67 (est.)

Symptoms

  • Reduced engine power and throttle response
  • Increased fuel consumption
  • Possible real detonation during acceleration under load
  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Unstable operation under high load

Causes

  • Faulty knock sensor C (broken piezoelectric element)
  • Open circuit or short circuit in the sensor signal wiring
  • Unreliable contact in the sensor connector
  • Incorrect sensor torque (too loose or too tight)
  • Contamination or corrosion of the sensor seat

How to Fix

  1. Read codes, fix parameters (freeze frame)
  2. Inspect knock sensor C and its connector for damage and oxidation.
  3. Check the sensor tightening torque (usually 20–25 Nm)
  4. Measure the resistance of the sensor (standard for a piezo sensor: more than 1 MOhm)
  5. Check the wiring from the sensor to the computer for open circuit and short circuit
  6. Replace the knock sensor if the fault is confirmed
