Symptoms

Causes

  • Wear of the teeth of the crankshaft drive disc
  • Incorrect air gap between sensor and drive disc
  • Sensor clogged with metal shavings
  • Electromagnetic interference in the sensor circuit
  • Worn sensor with unstable characteristics

How to Fix

  1. Read codes, check for codes P0335–P0339 and P0387–P0388
  2. Inspect crankshaft sensor B and its connector
  3. Check and adjust the air gap (normal: 0.5–1.5 mm)
  4. Clean the sensor from metal particles
  5. Inspect the drive disc for tooth damage
  6. Replace the sensor if the fault is confirmed
