Symptoms

• Unstable engine idling
• Reduced power and dynamics
• Increased fuel consumption
• Check Engine Light Illuminates

Causes

• Worn or dirty VVT actuator position sensor
• Problems with the wiring harness (open, short, poor contact)
• Mechanical wear of the timing chain or tensioner
• VVT solenoid malfunction
• Low oil pressure (insufficient for VVT system operation)

How to Fix

1. Check the condition and level of the engine oil
2. Diagnose VVT sensor and solenoid wiring harness
3. Check the resistance and signal of the actuator position sensor
4. Clean or replace VVT actuator position sensor if necessary
5. Check VVT solenoid for blockage or malfunction
6. In case of mechanical wear - replace the timing chain, tensioner or actuator
