Causes
- Broken or shorted camshaft position sensor wiring
- Faulty phase regulator position sensor
- Contamination or wear of the phase regulator
- Low oil pressure in the VVT system
- Contaminated or unsuitable engine oil
- ECU malfunction (rare)
How to Fix
- Connect the scanner and read all error codes
- Check the electrical circuit of the sensor: voltage, grounding, wiring resistance
- Inspect the sensor connector and wiring for damage or oxidation.
- Replace the camshaft position sensor if the circuit is OK
- Check oil pressure and compliance with specifications
- Clean or replace the phase regulator if there is a mechanical fault
- Reset the error and take a test drive to check
