Symptoms

• Unstable engine operation at idle
• Reduced engine power
• Increased fuel consumption
• Check Engine light comes on

Causes

• EGR sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in wiring harness
• Poor contact in connectors
• EGR valve malfunction
• Problems with the engine control unit (ECU)

How to Fix

1. Check the EGR sensor wiring harness and connectors for damage.
2. Check the resistance of the EGR sensor (compare with factory values)
3. Clean or replace EGR valve if necessary
4. Check the power and ground of the EGR sensor
5. If necessary, replace the EGR sensor
6. Reset the error and check if it returns
