Symptoms
- Check Engine light comes on
- Increased fuel consumption
- Unstable engine idling
- Smell of gasoline in or around the car
Causes
- Open or short circuit in the EVAP purge flow sensor circuit
- EVAP purge flow sensor malfunction
- Damage to the wiring harness or sensor connector
- Problems with the engine control unit (ECU)
How to Fix
- Check the integrity of the wiring harness and sensor connector
- Measure the resistance and voltage in the sensor circuit
- Replace EVAP purge flow sensor if necessary
- Check and clear error codes after repair
