- Reduced engine thrust
- Increased fuel consumption
- Increased exhaust smoke (especially on diesel engines)
- Slow engine warm-up in cold weather
- Deterioration of the EGR system
- Possible overheating during prolonged use
Causes
- Stuck or damaged exhaust pressure control valve
- Open or short circuit in the valve actuator circuit
- Valve clogged with carbon deposits or combustion products
- Vacuum valve actuator malfunction
- Damage to the actuator (actuator)
- ECU malfunction (rare)
How to Fix
- Check for other codes - P0476, P0477, P0478 help to more accurately localize the cause
- Visually inspect the valve and its drive for mechanical damage and carbon deposits
- Check electrical connectors and valve wiring harness
- Measure the resistance of the valve solenoid - compare with the standard according to the documentation
- Check the vacuum drive (if equipped): there are no leaks in the tubes
- Clean the valve from carbon deposits or replace it if it is mechanically jammed
- Perform valve activation test via scanner
- Reset codes and check the result
