Symptoms

• Particulate filter regeneration failure (diesel)

Causes

• Contamination or clogging of the pressure sensor with soot and carbon deposits
• Damaged or oxidized sensor connector
• Damage to the sensor diaphragm due to thermal shock
• Crack or blockage in the pressure tube leading to the sensor
• Vibration wear of wiring in high temperature zones
• Faulty sensor (mechanical failure)

How to Fix

1. Read data in real time: observe the readings of pressure sensor B under different loads
2. Visually inspect the sensor, its connector and impulse tube
3. Clean the impulse tube connecting the sensor to the exhaust tract - it is often clogged with soot
4. Check the integrity of the wiring with an oscilloscope - an unstable signal is clearly visible on the graph
5. Replace the sensor if unstable readings are confirmed
6. On diesel engines, check the condition of the particulate filter - its blockage can create abnormal pressure
7. Reset codes and test drive with data logging
