Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• Engine detonation under load
• Increased fuel consumption
• Reduced power and traction
• Unstable operation at idle
• Increased NOx emissions
• Possible overheating if EGR is not working for a long time

Causes

• EGR valve control circuit wire break
• Poor contact in the EGR valve connector
• Burnt or broken wire near the exhaust manifold (high temperature)
• Faulty EGR valve solenoid A (resistance too high or open)
• Malfunction of the ECU output stage (rare)
• Poor ECU grounding

How to Fix

1. Visually inspect the EGR valve connector and wiring harness for damage from high temperatures.
2. Measure the resistance of the EGR valve solenoid between the connector contacts (check with the standard in the documentation - usually 20–30 Ohms)
3. Check the supply voltage at the valve connector with the ignition on
4. Check the control wire from the computer to the valve for open circuit
5. Inspect the integrity of the wiring in the exhaust manifold area - the insulation often melts
6. Replace the EGR valve if its solenoid breaks
7. Restore wiring if a break is detected
8. Reset codes and take a test drive
