Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• Increased fuel consumption
• Unstable engine idling
• The smell of gasoline in or around the car

Causes

• Open or short circuit in the purge valve wiring harness
• Purge solenoid valve malfunction
• Connector problems or contact corrosion
• Malfunction of the engine control unit (rare)

How to Fix

1. Check the purge valve wiring harness and connectors for damage and corrosion.
2. Check the resistance of the purge valve (must meet manufacturer's specifications)
3. Check valve control circuit voltage
4. Replace the purge valve if a fault is detected
5. Clean or replace damaged wires or connectors
6. Reset the error code and check if it returns
