Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• Unstable idle during cold start
• Engine stalls after cold start
• Too high or too low speed when warming up
• Poor throttle response before engine warms up

Causes

• Dirty throttle valve or idle air passage
• Faulty coolant temperature sensor
• Air leak in the intake tract
• Faulty idle air control (IAC)
• Dirty injectors
• Malfunction of the ignition system (spark plugs, coils)

How to Fix

1. Read error codes and check freeze frame data (cold start rpm)
2. Check the coolant temperature sensor readings in real time
3. Clean the throttle valve and idle channel from deposits
4. Check the intake tract for air leaks
5. Check the injectors for clogging (clean if necessary)
6. Check the condition of the spark plugs
7. Replace faulty components
8. Reset the error and perform several cold starts to check
