Causes
- VVT camshaft actuator sticking in advance position
- Excessive oil pressure in the VVT system
- Malfunction of the timing control solenoid
- Incorrect camshaft position sensor signal
- Stretched or incorrectly installed timing chain
How to Fix
- Check engine oil level and pressure
- Diagnose the VVT solenoid: power supply, control signal, resistance
- Check the camshaft position sensor and compare the data with the crankshaft sensor
- Inspect the condition of the timing chain for tension
- Flush or replace the valve timing actuator
- If necessary, perform timing synchronization
