Causes

Weak battery charge (battery wear)
Malfunction of the generator or voltage regulator
Oxidation of battery terminals or generator contacts
Open or shorted wiring harness
Critical wear of generator brushes

How to Fix

Check the voltage at the battery terminals with the engine off (normal: 12.4-12.7V)
Measure the voltage with the engine running (2000 rpm, normal: 13.8-14.4V)
Inspect the condition of the terminals and wires
Check the tension and condition of the alternator belt
Test the generator on a stand (if necessary)
