Symptoms

• Check Engine Light and Security Warnings Illuminated
• Feeling like the brakes are dragging or the engine is losing traction
• Incorrect operation or disabling of adaptive cruise control
• Possible gear shift lock (automatic transmission does not exit P)
• Brake warning on the instrument panel

Causes

• Short circuit of the signal wire of sensor B to the reference voltage or on-board network
• Internal sensor malfunction with voltage exceeding the upper limit
• Damage to the insulation of the harness with contact between the signal wire and the power wire
• Incorrect installation of a different type of sensor (incompatible characteristics)
• ECU malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

1. Read fault codes and check sensor B data in real time
2. Measure the voltage on the signal wire of sensor B with the pedal released - it should be close to the lower limit of the range
3. Disconnect the sensor connector: if the voltage drops to zero, the problem is inside the sensor; if it remains high, there is a short in the harness
4. Test the signal wire for a short with the reference voltage supply wire
5. Replace the brake pedal position sensor B if it is confirmed to be faulty
6. Restore the insulation of the harness or replace the damaged section of the wiring
