Symptoms

  • Check Engine light comes on
  • AdBlue indicator does not light up when the reagent level is low
  • No warning about the need to top up the reagent
  • Possible forced power limitation on some cars
  • Violation of environmental standards for NOx emissions

Causes

  • Burnt out AdBlue indicator lamp
  • Open or short circuit in the lamp control circuit
  • SCR system control module malfunction
  • ECU output stage malfunction
  • Oxidation of lamp control circuit connectors

How to Fix

  1. Check the operation of the AdBlue indicator when the ignition is turned on (lamp self-test)
  2. Replace the burnt out lamp if necessary
  3. Check the wiring and connectors of the SCR lamp control circuit
  4. Check the AdBlue level and make sure the SCR system is working properly
  5. Diagnostics of the SCR control module
  6. If necessary, repair wiring or replace components
