Symptoms

• Reduced cooling efficiency of the air conditioner
• Check Engine Light Is On
• A/C compressor does not regulate output smoothly
• Increased fuel consumption when climate control is running
• Possible jerks when turning on the compressor

Causes

• Short circuit to ground in the compressor control valve circuit
• Control valve winding fault (low resistance)
• Damage to wiring (insulation melting, chafing)
• Oxidation or poor contact in the valve connector
• Malfunction of the control transistor in the ECU

How to Fix

1. Read error codes and record parameters in case of malfunction
2. Measure the resistance of the compressor control valve (for the norm, see the manual)
3. Check the control valve circuit for short to ground with a multimeter
4. Inspect the wiring from the computer to the valve, eliminate damage
5. Replace the compressor control valve if the fault is confirmed
6. Reset codes, check the operation of the air conditioner after repair
