Symptoms
- Check Engine Light Is On
- Engine emergency mode with power limitation
- The scanner shows high ECU temperature
- Random errors and unstable operation
- Restricting or disabling individual systems
Causes
- Temperature sensor B internal circuit open (false high signal)
- Real ECU overheating (if P06AA is present)
- Degradation of a temperature sensor with increased resistance
- Damage due to moisture or overheating
- External heat source near the ECU
How to Fix
- Read error codes - check for P06AA to determine actual overheating
- Check operating conditions and location of the ECU
- In case of real overheating, eliminate its source
- If P06AA is absent, send the ECU to diagnose the sensor circuit
- Repair the ECU board or replace the unit
- Reset codes, test drive and monitor temperature
