Symptoms

  • Check Engine Light Is On
  • Engine emergency mode with power limitation
  • The scanner shows high ECU temperature
  • Random errors and unstable operation
  • Restricting or disabling individual systems

Causes

  • Temperature sensor B internal circuit open (false high signal)
  • Real ECU overheating (if P06AA is present)
  • Degradation of a temperature sensor with increased resistance
  • Damage due to moisture or overheating
  • External heat source near the ECU

How to Fix

  1. Read error codes - check for P06AA to determine actual overheating
  2. Check operating conditions and location of the ECU
  3. In case of real overheating, eliminate its source
  4. If P06AA is absent, send the ECU to diagnose the sensor circuit
  5. Repair the ECU board or replace the unit
  6. Reset codes, test drive and monitor temperature
