Symptoms
- Check Engine light on

- Reduced engine power
- Dark smoke from the exhaust pipe
- Increased fuel consumption
Causes
- Fuel injector malfunction detected by FICM
- Internal failure of the FICM itself
- Problems with FICM high voltage supply
- Damage to the wiring harness between the FICM and the injectors
- Poor quality diesel fuel causing problems with injectors
How to Fix
- Read all error codes, including FICM codes (manufacturer specific)
- Check FICM operating voltage (48 V on Ford Power Stroke)
- Inspect the wiring between the FICM and the injectors for damage.
- Perform an injector test with a diagnostic scanner
- Check fuel quality and diagnose injectors
- If the FICM is internally faulty, consider repair or replacement.
