Symptoms

Causes

  • Intermediate shaft speed sensor malfunction
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Poor contact in the sensor connector
  • Transmission control module (TCM) problems
  • Mechanical problems inside the gearbox

How to Fix

  1. Check the resistance of the intermediate shaft speed sensor
  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors for damage.
  3. Check the quality of the sensor signal using an oscilloscope
  4. Replace the intermediate shaft speed sensor if necessary
  5. Check and, if necessary, replace the transmission control module (TCM)
