Symptoms

  • Incorrect gear shifting
  • Delays when shifting gears
  • Jerking when moving
  • Check Engine light comes on
  • Switching to emergency mode of the gearbox

Causes

  • Transmission fluid pressure sensor malfunction
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Poor contact in sensor connectors
  • Low transmission fluid level
  • Transmission control module (TCM) malfunction

How to Fix

  1. Check the transmission fluid level and add if necessary
  2. Visually inspect the sensor circuit for damage
  3. Check resistance and voltage at pressure sensor
  4. Replace transmission fluid pressure sensor if necessary
  5. Check the operation of the transmission control module (TCM)
