Symptoms

• Gear shifting problems
• Check Engine light comes on
• Switching to emergency mode of the gearbox
• Jerks when shifting gears
• Unclear gear shifting

Causes

• Open or short circuit in the actuator circuit
• Shift actuator malfunction
• Poor contact in connectors
• Transmission control module (TCM) problems
• Mechanical damage in the gear shift system

How to Fix

1. Check the integrity of the wiring and connectors of the actuator
2. Measure the resistance and voltage in the actuator circuit
3. Check the mechanical part of the gear shift system
4. If necessary, replace the gear shift actuator
5. Check and, if necessary, replace the transmission control unit
