Symptoms

• Check Engine Light Is On
• Unstable generator operation
• Reduced battery charging efficiency
• Floating engine speed
• Possible problems starting the engine

Causes

• Generator position sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
• Poor contact in sensor connectors
• Mechanical problems of the generator (bearing wear, belt slippage)
• Engine control module (ECM) malfunction

How to Fix

1. Check the condition and tension of the alternator belt
2. Inspect the sensor wires and connectors for damage
3. Check the resistance and signal of the generator position sensor
4. If necessary, replace the generator position sensor
5. Check the condition of the generator and replace it if necessary
