Drive Motor Inverter Temperature Sensor C Circuit

Severity
🔴 High
Can you drive?
Limited driving only, diagnose soon
Approx. repair cost
$56–278 (est.)

Symptoms

  • The Check Engine light comes on
  • Reduced power or performance
  • The car goes into emergency mode
  • Inability to use electric driving mode (for hybrids)

Causes

  • Open or short circuit in sensor wiring
  • Faulty inverter temperature sensor
  • Poor electrical connection or corrosion in connectors
  • Malfunction of the power inverter itself
  • Internal control module (PCM) fault

How to Fix

  1. Diagnose the sensor circuit using a multimeter: check the reference signal voltage, resistance, and short circuits to ground or power
  2. Visually inspect the wiring harness and connectors for damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
  3. Check the operating parameters of the temperature sensor using a diagnostic scanner and compare with reference values
  4. If necessary, replace the faulty temperature sensor
  5. If the sensor and wiring are in good condition, it is possible to replace the power inverter or reflash/replace the PCM
