Symptoms

  • The Check Engine light comes on
  • Reduced vehicle power or performance
  • Reduced electric range
  • Incorrect battery temperature reading on display
  • Activation of emergency operation mode of the power plant

Causes

  • Open or short circuit in the temperature sensor circuit
  • Corroded or loose contacts in electrical connectors
  • Faulty battery temperature sensor
  • Battery Management Module (BMS) internal failure

How to Fix

  1. Carry out diagnostics with a scanner to check the exact parameters of the sensor
  2. Visually inspect the sensor wiring harness and connectors for damage and corrosion.
  3. Check resistance and reference voltage at sensor
  4. If necessary, replace the faulty temperature sensor
  5. Repair only from an authorized dealer
