Symptoms

  • Unstable engine idling
  • Power dips during acceleration

  • Difficulty starting the engine

Causes

  • MAP sensor malfunction
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Poor contact in the sensor connector
  • Problems with power or grounding of the circuit
  • ECU malfunction (rare)

How to Fix

  1. Check the integrity of the wiring and connectors of the MAP sensor
  2. Measure the voltage at the sensor (should be within 4.5-5V with the ignition on)
  3. Check sensor resistance (compare with factory values)
  4. Clean or replace MAP sensor if necessary
  5. Flash or replace the ECU if it malfunctions
