Causes

  • Faulty crankshaft position sensor
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Poor contact in the sensor connector
  • Mechanical damage to the crankshaft gear
  • Excessive gap between sensor and teeth

How to Fix

  1. Check the integrity of the sensor and its circuit
  2. Inspect connectors and wires for damage
  3. Check the gap between the sensor and the gear
  4. Replace the crankshaft position sensor if necessary
  5. Clean sensor connector contacts
