Symptoms

Causes

• EGR valve position sensor malfunction
• Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
• Oxidation of sensor connector contacts
• Mechanical failure of the EGR valve
• Problems with power or grounding of the circuit

How to Fix

1. Check the integrity of the sensor wiring and connectors
2. Check the resistance and voltage at the position sensor
3. Clean sensor connector contacts
4. Replace EGR valve position sensor if necessary
5. If the EGR valve is faulty, replace it as an assembly
