Symptoms

  • Increased engine speed at speed
  • Check Engine Light Illuminates
  • No torque converter lockup

Causes

  • Open or short circuit in solenoid circuit
  • Engine blocking solenoid malfunction
  • Problems with the wiring harness or connectors
  • Transmission control module (TCM) malfunction
  • Low or contaminated transmission fluid

How to Fix

  1. Check the level and condition of the transmission fluid
  2. Check the integrity of the solenoid circuit and connectors
  3. Test the resistance of the gas turbine engine blocking solenoid
  4. Check the operation of the transmission control module
  5. Replace the gas turbine blocking solenoid if necessary.
