Symptoms

• Incorrect gear shifting (too late or too early)
• Increased engine speed at idle or while driving
• The car may not shift into higher gears
• Decreased fuel efficiency
• The Check Engine light may come on

Causes

• Faulty kick down switch (internal short circuit)
• Short to ground in the wiring to the switch
• Mechanical sticking or damage to the switch button
• Damage or chafing of the wiring harness in the pedal assembly area
• Problems with connectors (oxidation, corrosion, damaged contacts)

How to Fix

1. Carry out diagnostics with a scanner to check the status of the circuit breaker in real time
2. Visually inspect the kick-down switch and adjacent wiring for mechanical damage.
3. Check the switch circuit for short circuit using a multimeter
4. If necessary, replace the faulty kick-down switch
5. Clean or replace damaged connectors, restore wire insulation
