Causes

  • Water in fuel sensor malfunction
  • Open or short circuit in the sensor circuit
  • Corrosion of sensor contacts or connectors

  • Water entering the fuel tank

How to Fix

  1. Check the water level in the fuel tank and drain if necessary.
  2. Inspect the water in fuel sensor and its connections for damage.
  3. Check the continuity of the sensor circuit using a multimeter
  4. Clean the sensor contacts and connectors from corrosion
  5. If necessary, replace the water in fuel sensor
